Rob Sims is a Vice President, Design & Development at SDC. Prior to SDC, Rob worked at AWS as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, where he oversaw the design of more than 2.5 GW of data center capacity. During his tenure at AWS, he developed and deployed the next-generation data center design standard, led cross-disciplinary engineering teams, and designed multiple hyperscale campuses. Rob brings more than 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, mission-critical infrastructure, and hyperscale data center design.
Before AWS, Rob spent several years as a Mechanical Engineer at Schneider Electric, designing HVAC and plumbing systems for high-availability environments and evaluating existing data centers to identify risks and engineer resilient solutions. Earlier in his career, at KTA Group, he designed HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, medical, and government facilities.
Rob holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina and is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states.
